He holds his head high despite this (if only to see over things). His tail feathers are a few inches longer than normal, but it can be hard to tell when his wings cover his backside. Hyacinth loves accessories, especially if it can be fastened around his neck. Scarves are preferred for comfort, but jewelry is loved for its sparkle. [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ PERSONALITY ◂ [attr="class","explorerbox"]Anyone who has ever watched Hyacinth's performances would be left with the impression of beauty and grace, and perhaps they would assume he had a regal personality to match. Yet pride and vanity have never once crossed the Altaria's mind. Hyacinth bears a kind and gentle soul. His adoptive mother often claimed he was kind to a fault since he always reached out to help anyone who asked and has never once lost his patience with unruly customers or heckling audience members. That isn't to say his patience is endless. Hyacinth simply refuses to diffuse the situation when he can. If he can't? Well, he knows Sing and Perish Song for a reason. He would rather avoid a fight. That just makes a mess of the place and inconveniences everyone else! Hyacinth is, unfortunately, a bleeding heart. All it takes is a pleading look or a sob story for him to hand over the coins he has on him, food, etc. His time is often stretched thin after taking on too many favors for neighbors and strangers, almost as if no is not in his vocabulary. Then there's also his habit of impulse-buying anything that sparkles... No wonder he's having a hard time paying back debts. [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ FREEFORM ◂ [attr="class","explorerbox"]As a small Swablu, Hyacinth was found on the opposite side of the Sky continent to where his original flock called home. A Noctowl brought him home and patched his injuries, but Hyacinth would not wake until a few days later. Without a way home (and perhaps without a home to return to), the Swablu was allowed to stay with the Noctowl and raised as her own. She was an empty nester after her own children had already moved on, so having the little Swablu around filled the void. Hyacinth would remain with the Noctowl over the course of decades. Once he evolved from a tiny Swablu into an Altaria, he began to assist her with work, especially as her age began to show. When she eventually passed, only Hyacinth was by her side. None of her children showed up despite the many, many letters Hyacinth sent. The old Noctowl, spiteful of her unfilial children, left everything to Hyacinth. Including her debts. |
